Rock Inspection

Meeting the highest international standards

Our operations possess several characteristics that set high standards for sustainability:

  1. We have extremely low (<2 ppm) toxic heavy-metal contaminants in our minerals. This positively affects the quality of phosphate-based fertilisers and is favourable for downstream processing by third parties
  2. We can contribute to the decarbonisation of EU supply chain through the reduction of transport emissions as well as low-to-negative production emissions using CCS
  3. Access to Norwegian power as our primary source of power for our upstream production
  4. Our close collaboration with local, national and international communities will result in a broad range of positive socio-economic impacts

International standards

To address the increased stakeholder focus on ESG issues, there are several national and internationally recognised reporting frameworks used to guide disclosure, encouraging a robust standard of transparency and engagement.

We have a long-standing commitment towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and will align our sustainability performance with the industry adopted TSM framework along with the EU’s sustainability disclosure regulations (CSRD).

Governance

The Company is committed to implementing and maintaining the best practice standards of governance and transparency from the top.

The ESG Committee plays a critical role in ensuring, effective risk management within the organisation and is responsible for establishing and operating a robust risk management system that addresses various ESG operational risks.

The Committee reviews interactions with important local and international stakeholders and supports the Company by establishing connections with relevant intermediaries and contacts with a potential mutual interest in the commercialisation of Norge Mineraler’s assets.

Environmental

Norge Mineraler is looking to minimise its operational impacts whilst maximising its positive societal impact.

Societal impact

By making phosphate and vanadium more readily available, we can help to build a more sustainable world, through their application in renewable energy technologies.

Lower carbon operations

And we are proving that resource development can be clean and green, thanks to innovative ways of extracting materials from the ground with minimal impact on the land. We are also helping stimulate a new industry in Norway, creating infrastructure for the economic benefit of its people and entirely new ways of exploring minerals that will propel our sustainable revolution forward.

Tailings solutions

Tailings are residual resources from the processing of mined ore.

They consist of ground rock, clay, silt and sand, unrecoverable and uneconomic metals, organic matter and effluent from the process used to extract the desired products from the ore.

From our engagement with stakeholders, we understand the effective management of this residual resource it a high priority and our development activities are focused on ensuring responsible solutions to their storage and utilisation that finds a purposeful way to minimise impact on the nature and landscape.

Forest

Water management

Water is used in several ways within the mining process to extract, wash, sort and de-water the minerals being mined.

Norge Mineraler will be looking to adopt a closed-loop water system to recirculate any water assets required as part of the company’s activities whilst limiting any impact on local water courses.

Energy solutions

Norge Mineraler plans to utilise green electricity from the Norwegian grid to power its operations, engaging with local utilities partners to ensure capacity and required connectivity.

Carbon neutrality

Climate action is at the heart of what we do.

Climate action is at the heart of what we do. We are investigating raw materials that are on the European Union’s Critical Raw Material list. They are vital to our greener future, their their supply is however at risk. Vanadium redox flow batteries will be able to store the vast quantities of renewable energy – needed in the move away from carbon. At the same time, phosphate fertilisers are the most natural way to feed our ever-growing global population.

Lithium-ion batteries are key enablers of the shift to low-carbon economy by storing the renewable energy and, mainly, enabling the electrification of transport. Their production, namely processing of necessary components, and recyclability, has however been ridden by numerous challenges, including high pollution and environmental degradation. Recent technological developments and use of alternative materials, such as iron-phosphate for cathode active material, has however substantially improved the life-cycle performance of lithium-ion batteries. With increased levels of re-use and recycling and better production and processing practices, they are themselves becoming a part of clean-tech economy.

Port Development Bg

Port development

Once in operation, our products will need to be transported to market using logistics solutions that adapt to the region.

This may include the expansion of port infrastructure to accommodate the loading and shipping of materials to European and other international customers.

Biodiversity

Protected areas

Norge Mineraler respects that there are a number of protected areas within our exploration licences and is fully investigating them. We are gathering as much information as possible on this and will make sure any findings are at the forefront of our exploration and sourcing of minerals in Norway.

Conservation

As well as protected areas, Norge Mineraler understands there are species of conservation concern within the licence areas. The welfare of these species will be given huge importance.
